Repairing A Dripping Shower Head

In order to repair the dripping shower head, first of all we should have all the necessary items needed to mend the faucet, viz the plumber’s wrench, pliers, Teflon tape and the O rings etc. Detach the shower head form the pipe with the help of wrench, pliers and sometimes it can be done even with the bare hands.
Though the head is joined with its stem with the help of threads but the chances are that the O ring has worn out and need replacement. Thus, we must change the worn one with a new washer.
After you have replaced the washer, wrap a Teflon tape over the stem of the shower head. This is done in order to seal the connection.
In case the threads over the stem are worn out, an additional wrap of the Teflon tape will have to be bandaged around it This will most likely stop the leakage.
After you have completed with the repairing process, reinstall the shower head carefully. It should not be tightened too hard or the replaced washer will also begin to leak. It should be screwed gently with hands.
Turn on the shower. Wait for few minutes to confirm that there is no leakage in the shower head. If the leakage continues, the shower’s water control valve may be faulty. For that you need to call in an expert. Because they do a necessary service that most of us can’t do.
